Castle Wedding Venues in Italy and How Much They Cost

Planning a destination wedding in Italy isn’t only about the gorgeous aesthetics – it’s often about finding a great deal and a venue that fits your budget and vision. However, many wedding websites are geared toward the look and feel of a venue, and not the cost. To address that gap, we created the Wedding Pricing Transparency Project, an ongoing effort to collect and organize real wedding venue pricing documents from venues in the U.S. and internationally.

In total, we currently have pricing documents for more than 80 wedding venues across Italy, and in this article, we’re highlighting a sample of historic and medieval castle wedding venues (Castello, in Italian) with a cost summary based directly on the venue’s official pricing PDFs, brochures, or contracts. The focus is on concrete details, including venue fees, required minimum stays, accommodation costs, and, where available, per-person food and beverage pricing, to help couples understand what weddings in Italy (especially medieval castle venues!) actually cost. Castello Brancaccio | Outside of Rome

Castello Brancaccio is a medieval castle set above a historic village just outside Rome, known for its frescoed interiors, panoramic terraces, and flexible exclusivity options. For 2025–2026, exclusive single-day venue rental on Fridays through Sundays starts at €4,975, while weekday non-exclusive rentals begin at €3,975, plus VAT and local taxes. Food and beverage is required, with full-day culinary and drinks programs typically starting around €175 per person, and formal dinner menus from €72.50 per person, before upgrades like open bars and late-night food. The venue can host up to 250 guests and includes an on-site boutique hotel sleeping up to 41 guests, making it a strong fit for couples planning a full-service destination wedding near Rome rather than a venue-only rental.

Castello del Trebbio | Outside of Florence

Castello del Trebbio is a historic castle estate in the Chianti countryside near Florence, offered exclusively for multi-day destination weddings with on-site accommodations. For 2026, the venue operates on an all-inclusive package model, with a three-night Gold Package priced at €45,990 for up to 51 guests, and a two-night Silver Package priced at €35,990, both including accommodation, ceremony space, multiple group meals, wedding dinner, open bar, and activities such as a castle and cellar tour with wine tasting. Couples looking for a turnkey experience can add an all-inclusive vendor package for €6,000, covering an officiant, photographer, hair and makeup, live music, and a DJ (florals priced separately). Given the required overnight stay and capped guest count, Castello del Trebbio is best suited for intimate, high-end destination weddings where lodging, dining, and events are bundled into a single private estate experience.

Castello di Bibbione | Outside of Florence

Castello di Bibbione is a historic castle estate in the Chianti hills near Florence, offering a private, accommodation-based wedding model ideal for multi-day destination celebrations. The property features 14 apartments and villas sleeping up to 66 guests, and rental of the accommodations is required in conjunction with the wedding. In peak summer (July–August), bookings are weekly only (Saturday–Saturday), while shoulder and low seasons allow shorter stays with a three-night minimum. Wedding receptions for up to 150 guests are hosted in designated castle spaces, with venue rental starting at €5,300 for a single event service, plus additional fees for welcome dinners, farewell events, and ceremony locations. Catering is mandatory and must be selected from the castle’s approved list, with all food, florals, and production priced separately. Given the required lodging buyout and à-la-carte event pricing, Castello di Bibbione is best suited for couples seeking a private Tuscan estate experience.

Castello di Casole, A Belmond Hotel | Near Florence

Castello di Casole is an ultra-luxury Belmond estate set on 4,200 acres of rolling Tuscan countryside near Florence, centered around an 11th-century castle and designed for polished, high-end destination weddings. The property features 39 suites and can be fully privatized for events ranging from 26 to 150 guests, with a minimum booking of 10 rooms required for weddings. Rather than a flat venue fee, ceremonies and receptions are priced by space, with rental fees ranging from €700 to €4,000 per location, including options such as the amphitheatre, terraces, courtyard, chapel, and limonaia. Catering is handled in-house, with cocktail receptions starting around €90 per person and plated dinner menus from €170 per person, plus wine pairings and upgrades.

Castello di Celsa | Near Siena

Castello di Celsa is a Renaissance-era estate set in the Tuscan countryside near Siena, offering exclusive-use weddings in a secluded, garden-forward setting. For 2028, weekend weddings require a minimum two-night stay with accommodation, with venue rental for the wedding day priced at €12,000, granting exclusive access from 9:00 AM to 2:00 AM the following day across the Italian garden, chapel, castle courtyard, granary, and park. Weekday events without accommodation are permitted Tuesday through Thursday and are priced higher, at €14,000. On-site lodging is limited and optional, with accommodations available for up to 24 guests across the castle and Villa Limonaia, starting from €2,350–€3,350 per night, plus additional per-person fees. Catering, rentals, and production are not included and must be sourced separately, while welcome dinners or farewell events incur an additional €3,500 fee. Given its exclusive-use model, limited lodging, and à-la-carte event structure, Castello di Celsa is best suited for couples seeking a private Tuscan castle backdrop with full creative control rather than an all-inclusive wedding package.

Castello di Gargonza | Tuscany

Castello di Gargonza is a fully enclosed 13th-century medieval village set in the Tuscan hills between Siena and Arezzo, offering a rare “entire hamlet” wedding experience where all guests stay on site. Weddings are structured around three-night buyout packages, with 2025 pricing starting at €14,000 per night for a 65-guest package (VAT included), increasing to €14,500–€15,000 per night for larger guest counts up to 90. Packages include exclusive use of the village, accommodations with breakfast, ceremony and cocktail spaces, use of common areas, and a dedicated panoramic dining venue, while meals are priced separately at approximately €170 per person for the wedding day and €65 per person for welcome dinners. Guest room rates typically range from €220–€315 per night, and open bar, pizza parties, and wedding planning services are add-ons. With its mandatory multi-night stay, bundled accommodations, and immersive village setting, Castello di Gargonza is best suited for couples planning a high-end destination wedding where guests fully settle into the experience rather than attending a single-day event.

Castello di Montalto | Near Siena

Castello di Montalto is a thousand-year-old castle estate in the Chianti countryside near Siena, offered primarily as a full buyout destination wedding venue. Weddings are typically structured around a three-night exclusive rental, which includes use of all indoor and outdoor spaces plus accommodations for up to 45 guests across 10 houses and apartments (with limited extra beds and nearby overflow lodging available). For July 2026, three-night rentals start at €13,300 for weekday stays and €15,800 for weekend bookings, covering the entire property. The castle features a consecrated on-site chapel for Catholic or Protestant ceremonies (available for an additional €800), while symbolic ceremonies can be held in the gardens. Catering is not included and is typically arranged externally, allowing couples flexibility in styling the wedding dinner and surrounding events.

Castello di Montauto | Near San Gimignano

Castello di Montauto is an intimate hilltop wedding estate overlooking the Tuscan countryside near San Gimignano, designed for small destination weddings with a full-property buyout. The estate includes a villa, five apartments, a cottage, and a suite, accommodating up to 27 guests on site, with a maximum event capacity of 50 guests. Weddings are offered on an exclusive-use basis, with three-day rentals starting at €8,900 and weekly buyouts priced at €12,000, covering accommodations, use of all outdoor areas, terraces, gardens, and the pool for the ceremony, reception, and side events. A historic on-site church is available for religious or symbolic ceremonies for an additional €500, while catering, rentals, and production are priced separately. With its limited lodging, panoramic views, and flexible vendor model, Castello di Montauto is best suited for couples planning a relaxed, highly personal Tuscan wedding centered around a small guest list and a multi-day stay.

Choosing a castle or medieval wedding venue in Italy is a dream for many couples, but the reality is that pricing, minimum stays, and required services can vary dramatically from one venue to the next. As this roundup shows, some Italian castles operate as full buyout estates with multi-night accommodation requirements, while others function more like traditional venues with separate rental fees and per-person catering costs. Understanding these differences upfront is key to finding a venue that aligns not just with your aesthetic, but with your budget and planning style.
